PAT Testing by Baxter Media
What is it?
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is an important part of a company's or individual's responsibility to health and safety. This is done using a series of specialised tests on your portable appliances.
What happens during a PAT test?
A visual inspection, which looks for:
- Damaged flexes
- Damaged plugs and equipment (overheating, burn marks, discolouration)
- Correctly wired plugs
- Correctly rated fuse
Then, depending on the class of the appliance, a number of other things are checked:
- Earth continuity testing
- Insulation resistance
- Polarity test
- Earth leakage test
How often does equipment need to be tested?
A common myth is that all equipment must be tested every 12 months. In reality frequency of tests depends very much on what the equipment is, and where and how it is used. We will work with you to develop or maintain an ongoing test routine that is appropriate.
How much does it cost?
Baxter Media charges £1.70 per item tested for upto 100 items. For over 100 items the price is reduced to £1.30 per test. There is a minimum charge of £50.00 regardless of the number of items tested.
We also offer annual and ongoing contracts with some incredible savings. For more information please get in touch.
